Talk about off topic, but it's been on my mind. Anyone believe in the predictions foretold by the Mayan calender ending on 12-20-12? Saw a program on TV about it last night; interesting stuff, not that I want to dwell, if you know what I mean!

I read an article on the reasons few days ago on another forum. There were plenty of reasons for the earth to end on 2012. But I don't get any other emotion than laughing out loud.

I don't think it does anyone any good to be all doom and gloom about it, but it's a fascinating subject. I do think we need to get this global warming stuff and environmental issues under control, or we won't need a planetary shift to have a problem that no one really wants to think about.

Sorry i just don't beleive in this. I've done some research on the subject and while its interesting I think it points to the end of an astrological age, not the end of the world.

Could be a lot of things; guess we'll find out in a few years lol

I think it just mainly has to do with transitions. The earth is always going through them and it always will. The Mayans who created the calendar broke it down into 20 year sections, with a huge belief that history repeats itself, which has proven to be true. It probably ends on 12-21-12 because they figured that by then, future Mayans would have created one to go from there on. I don't think they envisioned their own demise at the time they created the calendar.

Ha ha ha, of course not, don't be silly. What could some savages thousands of years ago know about the end of the world? If there was a big flood they'd say it was the end of the world...

That is such a prejudicial statement and a very unkind one. If it's a joke, it's really not funny, and if that's how you really feel, then I feel sorry for you.

To each his own, I think we all just need to keep an open mind about things like this and not put anything too far out of the realm of possibility. I too think 2012 has to do with a transition, maybe it is not something that everyone will experience, but I guess we will see:)

Totally agree. It's really not about right or wrong; it's just conversation and being tolerant, about everything. ;}
